"Still Serving America" is the Motto of the American Legion. The American Legion is the largest veterans' organization with nearly 3 million members in approximately 15,000 Legion Posts. It is Americans taking care of America. There are many valuable and essential programs.
Our local veterans answered the call to serve America in every war and conflict. All veterans of WW2 are known as the Greatest Generation. It was this generation of veterans who formed the American Legion Post 140 in 1945.
It is an all Indian organization formed on the Umatilla Reservation. It formed so that Indian veterans would have a voice and representation in American Legion affairs. It began as and continues to be Tribal Veterans organization, but it is open to all veterans.
