The 13th-annual

Events and registration begin at 7 a.m. and the event ends at noon with a raffle drawing for a Pendleton blanket and other items. On site registration begins at 6:45 a.m.
For the third year, enjoy the challenging Kanine
Ridge Climb, a 6.5 mile hike
up Kanine Ridge Road which starts near Cayuse and ends at Deadman
Pass rest area along Interstate 84.
The bus for Kanine Ridge Climb participants will depart at 7 a.m. from Tamastslikt and participants will be picked up at Deadman Pass in time to participate in lunch and other activities.
All races begin at Tamastslikt Cultural Institute at the following times:
50 mile cycle - 8 a.m.;
10 mile cycle - 8:15 a.m.;
3-mile Family Fun Walk/Run/Bike - 8:30 a.m.
10k run - 8:45 a.m.;
5k run - 8:50 a.m.
In addition to the races, activities at this year’s Salmon Walk include a tour of live spawning salmon, t-shirt sales, face painting, dunk tank, watershed information booths, children’s games, Fin the 25-foot long walk through salmon, a Salmon Story tent, and a barbeque salmon lunch starting at 11:00 a.m.
Salmon spawning tour will be a highlight of this year's Salmon Walk
event. A bus will depart at 7 a.m. from Tamastslikt Cultural
Institute to take participants to the upper Umatilla
River on the Umatilla National Forest to observe live, natural,
wild salmon on their spawning beds. Anyone wanting to go on the
spawning tour is asked to gather at 6:45 a.m. at Tamastslikt
Cultural Institute. The bus will return around 11 a.m. to the
same location. Spawning tour participants are encouraged to bring
cameras, comfortable walking shoes, binoculars and polarized
sunglasses. They will ride through the heart of the Reservation
along the Umatilla River. An experienced guide will narrate points
of interest along the way.

Proceeds from Salmon Walk will supplement local schools natural resources curriculum (k-12), including the annual Salmon Expedition, held each spring for more than 1,000 local students.
Salmon Walk is hosted by the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation and sponsored by the Pacific Coastal Salmon Recovery Fund, the Wildhorse Resort & Casino and the City of Pendleton. Several community groups and citizens volunteer their time to assist in the event.
